Interview with the founder of the Pils10 Company (edited transcript)
Reporter The name Pils10 is certainly unusual for a company and as an artist's name. Please tell us how the name came about.
Pils10The name reflects my preference for Pilsner-style beer. Another positive aspect was that the term Pils is known everywhere and has a positive connotation, but is not used in any other way except in the brewing industry. In order to find an independent name, the number 10 was added to the term. This is derived from the fact that I was not alone in the early days, but was supported by 9 other people. The name of the company is also the direct result of my stage name "Pils Zehn" and, depending on availability, also Pils10 as the nickname of my accounts on numerous internet portals.
Reporter: With the Pils10 Minecraft server network, you were a pioneer with the dynamic launch system for Minecraft servers. What exactly does this mean and why did you develop and implement this innovative idea?
Pils10The server network is set up via Bungeecord, where a proxy directly supports users switching between servers so that they no longer need to connect to each individual server separately. As a rule, one or more servers are provided for the lobby and each mini-game is also represented by one or more servers. This means that performance is scalable and high server loads in one area, e.g. for a popular mini-game, do not affect other servers in the network. However, this well-known technology requires the servers to be online at all times. Especially for a low-traffic Minecraft network with many mini-games, many servers are needed, which leads to high costs. The new approach with the Pils10 server network was to start servers only when there is a need for a mini-game and to shut them down automatically after the game ends so that they are not constantly online. The concept is that players can start the desired mini-game server in the game and are automatically ported to the game after a waiting time of approx. 30 seconds. The start times of the individual servers have been greatly reduced for this purpose. The server start itself was realized via the API interface of SubServers2. The Pils10 server network has offered this feature since 2016.
Reporter You have already released three albums and advertise with the slogan "100% KI".
Pils10Yes, when I create new tracks, I completely dispense with pre- and post-processing. The composition is done by an AI algorithm alone. However, this consists of a large number of different parameters that can be set in advance. My contribution consists of the correct, intelligent selection of parameters so that the tracks created by the AI fit into an overall artistic concept.
Reporter : Say something about your annoyance with your YouTube channel.
Pils10It all started with Let's Plays and smaller tutorials. The biggest success was the "Darknet Tutorial Part 1 - How to find what's relevant", which shows how to access and navigate the darknet. After the video was viewed 66,219 times and rated as helpful by 627 people, it was removed by YouTube on the grounds of "circumventing import restrictions". The equally successful video on "All series for free" shows how films and series can be consumed legally and free of charge without incurring criminal liability. After being viewed 18,957 times and rated as helpful by 109 people, this video was also removed from the YouTube platform on the grounds of "spam or misleading content". Because I was denied the right to complain, I founded the streaming platform PilsStream, which also allows me to make my blocked videos available to the public.
Reporter How has the Pils10 Company developed?
Pils10Pils10 Company, founded in 2019, bundles the activities of the former labels "Pils10 Youtube" and "Pils10 Entertainment" and is based in the social media sector. We are working on numerous projects here, which are presented on our multilingual WordPress website and with which we reach around 160,000 people.
Reporter : You have successfully created your own web radio.
Pils10Yes, while Pils10 Webradio used to be hosted on a private server and the music selection was limited to GEMA-free NCS music, we are now a partner of Laut.FM. With our GEMA broadcasting license, we mainly play songs from the gaming sector 24/7 as well as music composed with artificial intelligence as a further focus.
Reporter : What other projects are you currently working on?
Pils10Game development was recently discontinued. Although PilsAction, Grappling Gun and KlebeCube for Windows and "Gaming-Wörter erraten" for Android as well as our launcher are still available, further development is currently no longer taking place. Instead, we are focusing on the TubeX social media network. All content that is posted there is also available on PilsStream. Artists are paid via a variable CPC. Another current project is the URL shortener pils.ga. At 10 characters, our links are significantly shorter than those of other providers.
